You Can Heal Your Life: Movie Review

The Movie by Louise Hay

Tameko Barnette
"The journey begins..." is the first line you see on the screen as Louise Hay's movie, You Can Heal Your Life starts and there's a woman thinking negative thoughts about herself, even as she walks down the street, you can hear the negative thoughts of other folks passing by her.

After picking up an affirmation card that dropped to the ground from a positive thinking woman's tote bag, the woman encounters a threshold in which she walks through to journey through the 'internal landscape of change'.

The movie is based upon the book with the same title by Louise Hay. You Can Heal Your Life is part autobiography and part self-healing tool. The movie is crafted the same way. Louise tells the story of her life combined with the segments of a woman on her own internal journey of change, interviews with others who teach the message of 'change your thinking, change your life' such as Doreen Virtue, Wayne Dyer, Gregg Braden, Cheryl Richardson, and many others, and clips from "I Can Do It" Conferences, and interviews with people who have applied Louise's teachings into their lives.

I purchased the expanded version of the movie in order to have the extra DVD of the extended interviews. On both versions of the movies, there's an interactive affirmation tool that covers the areas of work, prosperity, relationships, self, and health and wellness. I've used this feature several times since getting the movie and I absolutely love it. There's beautiful images to look at it, calming music, and Louise herself gives the affirmation in voice-over style for you to repeat after her and you can replay it as many times as you wish or go on to the next one on the list. It's an excellent tool for beginners and advanced practitioners of affirmation alike.

The movie itself I found to be very inspirational and uplifting, while at the same time being educational and informative. There are many moments in the video that evoke tears, laughter, and self-reflection.

I found myself reassessing where I am on my own journey of self-healing that I've been on since 1999 when I first purchased Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life, which was recommended to me by a good friend. It opened my eyes to a lot that I didn't fully understand until the past four years.

For anyone who is looking for some extremely valuable advice, helpful tools, and an inspiring story to help you stay the course of self-healing, I highly recommend Louise Hay's movie, You Can Heal Your Life.
