Halo, Purely for Pets was a small company that started by accident. When Andi Brown's kitten developed allergies to commercial cat food, Andi started researching nutrition for pets. She developed a recipe based on a holistic approach with only wholesome ingredients. She calls it "Spot's Stew" and the kitten's health improved dramatically. Ellen DeGeneres's dog also developed an allergy to commercial pet food and when she was looking around for alternatives, she discovered Halo, Purely for Pets. When Ellen DeGeneres's dog's health also improved, she became a spokesperson and part owner in the company. On April 1, 2008, Mimi Ausland was eleven years old when she launched a website that lets you play a trivia game. Every day you can answer one multiple choice trivia question. For every visitor to the website who answers the daily trivia question, right or wrong, the website will donate 10 pieces of kibble to a pet shelter. Thus far, they have been able to donate of 450,000,000 pieces of kibble, which means of 300 tons, have been donated since April 2008. You can also help by spreading the word about the website.
