We were 17
You were a history teacher
One of the chaperones on our class trip out
Most of us had a crush on you
We were all just strolling along
Talking
About nothing really
Suddenly
You ran into the middle of the road
We screamed
What the hell are you doing?
You grabbed him
The little boy
The car was inches away
You pulled him to safety
We cheered
You were then and still are to this day
8 years later
Always have been
Always will be
A hero
Our hero

Post a CommentInternet is being strange at the moment, quick comment until it HOPEFULLY starts behaving!
One of these days, our Internet connection will behave and I'll be able to read and leave relevant comments. Today doesn't seem to be that day. *sigh*
I love the simplicity of the words and the power of their message. Beautiful poem.
great job! hugz cj
My Internet finally connected, so I'm doing quick comments at the moment. Maybe one of these days I can actually leave some more relevant comments on articles! I'm still reading, though!
Spreading PV love at the moment! Got a lot of e-mails!
Very heroic....glad to see that someone didnt hesitate..
I love the way you've pointed out how one person's actions can affect not only a child's life (saved the child from harm) but left you remembering him as a hero. How many heroes are out there, making a difference - even if they don't make the front page of the paper? Your poem made me wonder about that.
Nice.. :o)
