You Killed Your Life

Eva Kingsford

Your essence speaks to my soul,
your eyes show only truth
while your words try to deny them.
I cannot fathom ever letting go
as you have,
losing my faith, losing my reality;
losing everything to a lie.
You know yourself less as you continue,
see yourself transform yet blind
to your very illusion.
I see it clearly,
your essence that I once knew,
your soul that I once touched
and I realize now they're memories.
For those qualities are gone now,
that soul has turned bitter
and that essence has darkened.
You sold your soul to make a name
to live a life everyone wanted
and you despised.
Your mouth continues to move
your words continue to echo
and I leave you there
alone with your own deception.
