I don't think I know better

I don't think I am better.

I don't try to impress,

I don't try to make a difference.

~

I just do what I can with what I am,

I try to help when I know how;

I try to teach when someone wants to learn-

I try to guide when someone wants to follow-

If I can, I will and do as best as I know how.

~

Some don't understand;

Some don't want to try,

Others don't even bother-

And don't even ask me why!

~

There are people who can lead,

There are people who can follow;

There are people that do some things,

And then there are people who do absolutely nothing!

~

I try do what I can when I can!

I try to do what's right when I can;

Sometimes I do things and get credit,

And sometimes no one even knows I've done it.

~

I know it sounds like I'm talking in circles,

But what I'm really trying to say is this:

Sometimes no one knows,

Sometimes everyone knows.

~

But it doesn't matter who knows,

It doesn't matter what you've done-

Because whether anyone knows or not-

Whether you led or you followed,

Whether you taught or made a mistake,

YOU know.

~

YOU know if you did something good,

You know if you did it right or wrong;

You know if you made someone smile,

Or made their heart break in two.

~

You know what you did,

You know the road you traveled,

Yes, you know what you did-

And you know right from wrong.

~

And if you did something good,

You know people just might remember you,

And think of you later.....

And you know if you did something wrong,

People will find out,

If they actually didn't know it was you-

They will remember you.

~

And more often than not,

People remember the wrong,

People remember the stupid mistakes,

More often then they care to admit.

~

It always seems,

That no matter how much good you do-

No matter how many good deeds,

No matter how many times you try,

To correct your mistakes,

To erase them from everyone's memories-

Deep, deep down,

silently in the deep abyss of their mind,

Sits the memory of your mistakes......

You know what you did....

You know why you did it,

You just wish you could just make it all go away.....

You know.....
