You Can Live with Cancer

Kathy Davison
You feel light headed and watch the Doctors lips move but you don't hear the words come out. You only heard the word Cancer and the rest of the sentence blurred into the background.

The word Cancer takes time to process in your brain.

It's a life changing word that turns your world upside down.

Life as you knew it has suddenly changed.

So what now?

Take a deep breath and try to calm down. When you can see and hear clearly and feel you can focus, set about the following.

1. Don't surrender to despair and accept the first treatment offered. Thousands of people now realize that they can live with Cancer. They set out to research their own information and decide on their own therapies. Make sure you get a second and third opinion.

2. Source alternative physicians that will offer you therapies to build up your immunity and strengthen your emotional wellbeing. Patients who research their own info on how to live with cancer actually fare better than those who accept the initial Doctors orders. Doing their own research also give the patient more control and so heightens psychological well-being which in turn speeds up the healing process.

3. Look at lifestyle changes that will help to strengthen your immune system through Dietary change. Many articles provide statistics on various diets. An eating plan rich in vegetables, whole grains, olive oil, fruit and fish has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer by 25%.

A growing number of people have learnt to live with cancer thanks to an increasing awareness and acceptance of alternative in the medical profession. Many of the treatments are designed to keep tumors in check and actually target the tumors while leaving the immune system in tact.

4. Meet other people who have learnt how to live with cancer. Form a group of people that you can talk to, remember that no one understands you more than another person who has learnt to live with cancer.

5. Live your life. Don't let cancer ruin it. We are all going to die sometime. When we live with cancer we just have more information than others.
