You Are Miserable at Work; Is it Time to Quit?

Signs You Are Ready to Make a Move and Change Careers

If you get out of bed in the morning raring to go...can't wait to get to work, then you are obviously happy in your job. But if you can't sleep, can't seem to get out of bed in the morning to face the day, something has to give...and it might just be your job.

If Your Heart is Not in it, Take Steps to Find a Different Career Path

That doesn't mean quit your job right away. Do some research. Figure out what your true passion is. Then follow the path that will get you there. It might mean you have to take some night classes to get certified in your new career. You need money to fund your education. So stay in your job, even though your miserable, until you finish your certification. Because once you have a plan in place, even though most unbearable situation isn't quite as unpleasant when you know there is a way out; and you are taking steps to get there.

You Want to Stay on Your Same Career Path but There is No Future at Your Company

You see the writing on the wall. You won't get ahead here. Whatever the reason; you can't get along with your boss, there are too many people above you. It doesn't matter. This is the time to get out. Even if it means making a lateral move. If you feel like all you do is spin your wheels, that you're really not making a difference anymore, go to a place where people appreciate you, and your work will be rewarded.

But again, make a plan. Don't just quit in anger. Get your resume together and put out your feelers. Yes, times are tough. But even if you have to take a lesser paying job to make ends meet, if it makes you spring out of bed in the morning, and your passion is once again reignited, this is the move you need to make.

You're Simply Burned out and Wrung out; You Can't Do it Anymore

If that's the case, and you are physically and mentally sick with stress and exhaustion, get out. You'll find a way. Don't let any job get to the point where you are physically ill. Find a family member, a friend who will take you in. But whatever you do, take steps immediately to find another job. Don't become a burden to the people you love. I've seen it happen. This is not a vacation! Get out there and job hunt as if your life depends on it. And it a way it does. Because once you find a job you are happy in, you will feel a new zest for life, and you'll get that energy back that you always knew you had.
