You Can Move Jesus!

"If this is happening to me, there's a reason and I'm sure God has a plan." Some of you may have heard this argument before by people who are willing to suffer for our Lord, but no one has to suffer. We have a POWERFUL weapon/cure/peacemaker at our disposals called prayer. Even if you're sure that your pain or illness can be used by the Lord for His glory, you don't have to accept it. I discovered a few great verses that show that we can actually CHANGE GOD'S MIND with prayer - we can actually change the mind of the Creator of the Universe!

2 Kings 20:1-6
In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover." Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, "Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: "Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, 'This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. I will add fifteen years to your life.

I want you to take notice of two things there. The Lord is the one who said Hezekiah was going to die - it was a plain truth. Hezekiah prayed for mercy and healing and before Isaiah even left, the Lord changed his mind and gave him fifteen more years. God isn't just there for our small cuts and bruises. He heals deadly illness also. Here is another proof that we can move the Lord:

John 11:32 & 33
(To set the scene, Lazarus has died and his sisters are upset) When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

Mary and her friends were hurting and this moved Jesus. She went so far as to almost blame Jesus for Lazarus' death. I won't write out all the verses, but as you can see, Jesus was moved by their pain and in the following verses, he raises Lazarus from the dead. Basically, Jesus did the impossible because Mary cried out to the Lord.

I also won't write out all these verses, but if you read Genesis 18:16 - 33, you find God making a decision to destroy Sodom. Abraham argues with the Lord and keeps him from destroying Sodom (at least for the time being). Abraham steps in on behalf of someone else (like praying for loved ones) and the Lord changes his mind multiple times in those verses.

There is no excuse you can bring up for not praying. Your doctor may have told you that your cancer is terminal and he may have even said "you will surely die this year", but the Lord is beyond that. You may have even received confirmation from the Lord himself that you will die, but you can change His mind. We don't know His ultimate plans, but we know those plans are good. Never stop praying no matter what others say or even what the Lord himself has said. God is even listening to those who have fallen under His judgement.
