You Do the Same Things, so You Get the Same Results

Kevin Smith
Something I never understood about people is why we always think that some miracle is going to happen to us in the future, and rescue us from our current situations. What people need to realize is that we are the masters of our own destiny. We can't blame the way our lives are or what has happened in our lives, on someone else. We have to make us happy. We have to take responsibility for our own lives. If we want to change something, we need to do something about it.

When you do the same things, you get the same results. Something every mediocre or average person is guilty of saying is what they're going to do when they get rich. They never talk about what they're going to do to get rich and even when they do, they do nothing about it. Someone who works as a shipping clerk in a factory, and has been there for several years is not going to get rich at that job. Taking it up a notch, someone who works in a call center is not going to get rich doing that job. If you want to make a million dollars, you have to take action and do something other than what you normally do. Money doesn't grow on trees. And I know we've all heard that before.

This principle doesn't just apply to money. Many people talk about how many pounds they're going to lose, but don't take the necessary action to make that claim a reality. Something people who talk about how many pounds they're going to lose often say, is how they tried everything and nothing works! These kind of people don't stay consistent with a thing, and that's why even though they may have taken the initiative, they did not take action. Again, when you do the same things, you get the same results. You have to choose a plan, and stick with it to see change.

As you can see, this principle can be applied to just about every situation we encounter in life. People's lives don't change because they get comfortable where they are, and get stuck in a routine that will keep them there. An illustration I like to use, is of a hamster on a wheel. That hamster can spin that wheel out of control, but that hamster goes nowhere. He still ends up in the same place no matter how hard he spins it. People do the same exact thing with life and spend a lifetime doing it. So if you want to make a difference or change in your own life, don't wait for miracle to happen. Create your own miracle by taking action.
