You Told Me

WorkingMom
You told me you loved me,

And I believed you.

You said you'd never leave me,

And I thought you wouldn't too.

You said you believed what I said,

But now our love is dead.

When did the love slip away?

When did the love decide not to stay?

What did I do to lose your heart?

And when did the doubting start?

I said you were the best and I didn't want the rest,

And now I want you to realize,

That I never told a lie.

Remember when everything was fine?

I was yours and you were mine.

Everything was so perfect then,

It seemed like it could never end.

Then you said you wanted to leave me,

I guess you never did believe me.

Nicely done. Experience costs a lot, but try to learn hard lessons the first time. Having to attend the same class in the school of hard knocks is hard on the heart!
