How many times have we said this, " I will start tomorrow"? Yes, many times. Me, too.
It is not bad to have goals and making resolutions. The problem comes when we make them and we never work towards them at all or barely. People make resolutions at the end of the year usually: " I am going to read through the whole Bible". " This next year I will lose the weight and exercise more". " I will reach 100 people for Jesus". " I will be a better spouse". " I will train for missions". Etc. , etc.
Potential is not good if it is not put into actions. Goals are just that, goals, but without actually trying to reach them, the end of the year will come again and still no change. We need to stop procrastinating.
We allow way too much time to waste.l The apostle Paul said one time through the Holy Spirit, " Redeem the time". To me that is basically saying, " Take back what you lost. Quit losing time". I have noticed how much time I waste on the computer and with no big stuff. There are 24hrs in our day yet we complain that we do not have time. The truth is it is not time we do not have, but management skills or just pure laziness. Just try it. Start cleaning up your closets for a whole good hour. I bet you will finish before the hour is up if you KEEP at it. I tried and got exhausted, but in the end now I have a more organized closet! It turns out it wasnt time I did not have, but desire to do anything. We are lazy. We do not want to do this or that because, " we are tired".
Americans like to be entertained. In my experience with learning something for example, unless it is something I can watch, I have a hard time learning. Now, yes, people have different styles of retaining information, but let' s be honest, when we were kids we just had paper and a pencil and that is all and we learned. People still went ahead and became teachers and doctors and more. Today businesses dont know how to make it more FUN for a child to study. I think it is our faults kids do not learn. We assume that unless it is fun they will not learn. That is not true. If we did without internet and TV, then our kids can, too. A baby doesnt know anything about computers and TV. We the parents introduce our children to them and then later we blame the system when we should really blame ourselves.
My daughter loves to watch stuff and sometimes I am guilty of letting her watch too much, although I cancelled my cable just so I can control myself and my daughter how much we watch and to save money on watching cartoons mostly!!!! My little girl now spends even more time reading books. She plays other games and we play old fashioned games and guess what hse loves it more because I play with her. It is fun, educational, and I build a good relationship with my little girl. Entertainment is often the killer of our time.
So, I made a list of goals I have .....again. No. This time I am trying to reach my goals. I put down on a piece of paper ( this is in random order):
1. Reach 1 million people for Jesus. Now that sounds like a lot, but I plan to really reach those 1 million and if I live for about 30 more years or even 20 it is NOT impossible.
2. Make videos of myself for my daughter to have one day when I am gone. Also, I write her letters, I will place recipes in there for her, and ideas for work, little gifts, etc. I already done some of them. So, I am not being lazy on that. I have a file on my computer called " For Emily from Mommy" . Morbid? I say realistic. We all WILL die one day. Accidents can happen and you cna be ready. Isnt that what a will is just in case you die?I think it is wisdom.
3.Get the message Curry Blake preaches on John G Lake Ministries website to as many people as I can. I will make some gift baskets from the Thrift store or Walmart gift bags and place in them a cd with my testimony, who Jesus is, a CD from Curry Blake, and a little gift, my business card for contact and will take a walk( which is good exercise for me) and go to gas stations around, schools, and even managers of stores and take them a GIFT and watch their mouth drop. Well, I said I wanted to reach 1 million people. No, I do not not necessarily need to be on TV or preach to 1 million people at once. My goal is to just have a long line of people behind me line up and Jesus say, " Great is your reward!" People are my reward...at least that is what I really want. In fact I am going to start doing that this week.
4. Visit Nursing homes. Yes, I already called and they are excited for me and my group ( small group that we meet with in my home) to come. We are going this Saturday..no more procrastination!
5. Yes, I have a small group I meet with on Saturdays. No. It wasnt organized by the pastor. No. I did not want to be a leader in the church...in fact I stepped down because I felt like I could not be me doing that. I like this better. I changed how I view reaching people. Before I would imagine myself like a "tele-evangelist"( is that how it is spelled? lol), but now all I care is to reach my goal of 1 million people for Jesus. Life is short and if I wait on that BIG DAY...I might be dead before then and never reach anyone and go to heaven with no reward. Humbug...who needs a program when I have Jesus and people need Jesus not a program? I already have the greatest gift living inside of me I can give: JESUS
No. Stop finding excuses that you dont have THE money. You have the power of Jesus. Someone who needs a leg, doesnt need your money but for you to pray for a new leg to grow. Dont know how to do that? Check out the teachings or Curry Blake ( John G. Lake Ministries-google please)
6. Another goal: record videos of myself with things God has shown and taught me about Himself and leave something for the next generation.l If this generation doesnt accept me as well, one will. Records usually last. Look at the Bible. It still speaks thousands of years later because someone recorded it.
7. I am also a singer/songwriter. More Keith Green type of messages can be heard in my songs. I will upload some here on this website, too, soon. It is so hard to be accepted by a pastor to sing in a church. In Romania, the day you arrive you can sing if you talk to pastor or send a note to him during the service that you want to sing. They have an hour designated before the sermon to those who want to share a song or a poem or a word. So, I might not be able to be invited to sing as I wish I was, but again there is technology and I remember my goal : 1 million people for Jesus. I dont look at my goals in terms of what people see, but what God sees. I also think about redeeming my time. No wasting time. If you have the opportunity, do it. Be driven by your passion not by what people see! Be driven by making a difference and by filling up your " heavenly stores" with all kinds of good acts and deeds.Surprise God! as Curry Blake says.
8. Record a video for my grandchildren if my daughter will have any kids one day.
9. Adopt 5 children. Now that is a big goal because the older you get, the less patience we have....so we say. Wait a minute: if it is the Holy Spirit in me and patience is His fruit, then I guess if He lives, then there will be patience to raise some children.
Well, I have more goals, but these are the major ones for me. When I had cancer at 26, I was so scared I was going to die and not leave much behind. I wasnt afraid of dying as much as of dying knowing I wasnt done yet. This time if death comes, I WILL be ready. I will not have to worry bc I know I finished my course and ran the race.
What about you?
