You Are a Working Person Who Voted Republican - Do You Feel like a Damn Fool Yet?

Jeff Musall
The 2010 election is barely a month behind us, and already the Party of No is stepping up their attack on working Americans. Working Americans are under attack from politically sponsored class warfare, and are losing.

One might think the Republican Party would have been recognized long ago as a collective force pitted against working Americans at every step. Of course, they were by many, but too many fell into the trap of politics by fear and voted Republican.

Voting Republican can be understood for persons finding themselves lucky enough to be the upper crust, the top of the bread, as it were. If people aren't in that category their motives become either suspect or hard to understand at all.

Wanting an American theocracy, pushing evangelism, wanting to bomb Iran and/or North Korea, an intrinsic hatred of progressives, a woefully wrong interpretation of the Constitution, a fear of the different and new - all reasons some voted Republican. Do any of them have any regrets yet?

Look at what Republicans have chosen to lock up the government on. Yes, they have been gaming the system and obstructing for years, but now they seem to be happy to be fully out of the closet on it. They are proud to strut around, like John Boehner, and call attempts to help the economy "chicken crap." If you have seen the clip, did you notice his smug smirk, like he didn't even belief himself sincere?

One of the very best bang for buck boosts to the economy would be to extend unemployment benefits for those who need them. They want to push the narrative that those receiving benefits are lazy or not wanting to work. Truth is, the unemployed who get benefits not only help the economy, but those who are looking for work that aren't able to get benefits. The plain fact is, there just aren't as many jobs as people who need one.

The issue the Republicans are ready to go to the wall for is to continue the Bush tax cuts for the top earners. Yes, the only group of people that did well in the Bush economy. The Republicans will have the tea-soaked mind believe that tax cuts to the rich are the best way to create jobs.

First, that reasoning has been soundly discredited by reputable economists. Second, it's part of the policy that put us in the deficit hole in the first place. As a job creation device, the tax cuts failed miserably. The Bush years saw the lowest job creation rates in decades. It's just a big lie.

The argument that those making over 250,000 a year, and are small business owners, need a tax cut to create jobs is fabricated nonsense. Those making that much would still get a cut up to 250,000. And remember, if they are a business, they are being taxed on profit. If anything, higher tax rates would encourage them to higher more. To hire someone, they would get tax benefits that would reduce their net profit. And they would be building their business. Sound logic, eh?

There is class warfare in America, and the workers have been losing since the 1980s. America is well down the road to oligarchy. Make no mistake, that is exactly where the Republican Party wants us to be. Wealth and power concentrated in the hands of a few. And some Democrats are so cowed as to go along.

Charlatans like Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and others like them are beating the war drums, and voters either too misinformed to know better or too fearful to care listen to them.

Yes, any working American voting Republican is voting against themselves and their family. Wouldn't that be a definition for "a damn fool?"

Democrats, Republicans, I'm sorry but politics are politics, everyone who gets voted in wins because they've been able to raise billions of dollars to promote themselves. I tend to see every politican as an individuals and what it boils down to is they are make tons of promises but there hands are tied with the bureaucratic system that we have.

Wrong again, The tax cuts will not expire until Jan 2013 (after the Nov. 2012 elections) – We will be looking at 15-16 Trillion in debt – the tax cuts will be blamed on the Dem Congress, Senate, and Obama. (2) Obama care will need to be funded by the Congress – Congress will be Republican, this means Obama has no choice, but to “Slide from the Left” to the center – This Tax extension shows he is “Finally” willing to work with Republicans. (3) Unless the unemployment is down at least around 8% by July 2012 Obama is toast and Yes even Palin will be able to beat him – by extending the unemployment benefits for 13 months shows that there is no confidence in the economy improving much. NOT sure what “Trap” your referring to.

The wanna be oligarchs laid a trap with the Bush tax cuts, but alas, I do think Obama has set the stage to turn that back on them. With a two year extension, they will come up again with a better economy, serious deficit reduction talk, and an electorate seeing benefits of health care reform, a better economy, and an Afghan drawdown. The Republicans and their theocratic base are seeing their apex of power, and they will ensure their own demise.

Obama “Caved” faster than I thought he would!! - Jeff, It’s time you review “MANY” of my predictions over the last few months – It’s kinda like the commercial “Can you hear me now!!” I’m over 70%

    "Feeling foolish is un-American"

Great work on this! But, at least the Republicans, the party of/by/for the rich to get richer and richer are protecting us white folks from the machinations of that evil black president.

  • Keith Bonnett12/4/2010

The process is simple – It’s not complicated at all…. Extend time during the lame duck session and let the Dem’s fight….Try to pass, the BUSH tax cuts and call it the Obama Tax cuts for the Middle class… Mid month the entire BUSH tax cuts will pass – ONLY a few days left for “The Dream Act”: - DADT – AND other Social Dreams… DEC. 24th Polosi will try to force a vote on the floor – all will pass (LAST Ditch effort to play Race, Class warfare – Senate will NOT Pass any of the bills – NEW Congress will be sworn in on Jan 3rd - LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!

  • Orchiolum12/4/2010

Your definition is on point. Too many voters are a filament short of a bulb.

  • Keith Bonnett12/4/2010

Unemployment benefits may get extended – “Not because it’s the best bang for the buck” – but because it is the right thing to do… The U.S. borrows 40 cents for every dollar spent – when the CBO came back with the figure given by the house dem’s it did not include the cost of borrowing the 13 Billion – (another add on to the yearly 1.3 Trillion Deficit) This is now so common by the Polosi / Reed house that it goes ignored by the Liberal Media – EXAMPLE: $500 billion over the next 10 years (50 billion per year) saved from “Theft and abuse” of the Medicaid system was USED to show how much could be saved with Obamacare, which was given to the CBO to calculate the health care costs- It has been over a year and not ONE dime has been saved – It’s all a game of false numbers “Garbage in, Garbage out” - The voters understand it now, and are now longer falling for the BS!!

  • Keith Bonnett12/4/2010

It is amazing – Were you on vacation during the last election? There is a reality that you and the progressives don’t get!! Class warfare, Race Warfare, Corp. warfare etc… ARE ENDING – Obama will move to the center, He will have too… And no matter how much crying and tantrums you progressives throw – He is now realizing that he “MUST” work with the Republicans, if the unemployment rate is even close to 9% in 2012 it will be another huge Republican win. He’s a politician, he and his administration realize that blaming “Bush” – “The party of No”, blaming Corp’s etc. Will lose his party the next election.
