Special challenges are often faced by unglazed ceramic tiles, since they are commonly used for bathroomflooring. Always mop up any spills from medicines, paint or other materials as soon as possible or stains may set in. Scour the affected area with an abrasive cleaning powder. This must be done quickly since unglazed ceramic floors often act as a sponge, with stains becoming very resistant to removal. Created from resin-based fibers and binders, composition tile floors are celebrated for their resistance to stainsand moisture and are particularly non-absorbent. For normal cleaning, dust them with an untreated mop andthen apply a wet mop using regular cold tap water. If an all-out cleaning is needed, add lukewarm water and a gentle detergent. Whichever method you use, though, you must rinse the floor with a mop and clear water. The flooring manufacturer will likely provide you finishes or waxes that are applicable to their product. You must be very careful not to employ strong soaps, sweeping compounds or chemicals, as well as oil polishes, paste orliquid polishing wax. Using shellac, varnish or lacquer is also strong discouraged.
