YOUNG BLACK MEN and WOMEN

YOUNG BLACK MEN AND WOMEN

Through all your triumph and all your pain,

you still stand tall and ride that train.

You sit along the wall all painted,

with gang symbols all dilapitated.

Your daily sorrows are only a short lasting,

next year you'll graduate and start tasking.

You wish all your fellow school chums,

would follow your way out of the slums.

Yet no one shares your lasting desires,

to change for the better and stop being tired.

Tired of losing so many family and friends,

to the sad life of too many dead ends.

Think of it this way young black men and women,

you"re stronger and mightier maybe they'll bend.

Someday their time will come to see the light,

hopefully before their time is out of sight.

Step up to the plate and give your family ease,

In knowing they raised the finest at peace.

Next year you will find the change in life,

President Obama will help ease your strife.

Good luck young black men and women,

for the future holds your new beginnin'.
