Businesses catering to the interests of children have become a boon for many franchisees and local owners alike. Young Chefs Academy is no exception. Located in Warner Robins, GA Young Chefs Academy teaches culinary arts to kids, and in doing so teaches them fundamental knowledge that will help them develop skills in school and at home. Owners Amelia and Sharon Gillis have gone to great lengths to create a kid-friendly environment.

Classes
Young Chefs Academy weekly classes provide hands-on experience reading recipes and handling food properly, while keeping safety a paramount concern. All class members receive a Young Chefs Academy apron and recipe binder with dividers for collecting weekly recipes. Students may carry these supplies to class in their own Young Chefs Academy tote bag, also provided by the Academy. Class participants who sign up for the Chef's Club membership have the opportunity to pass a skills test every couple months based on skills learned through weekly classes. "Graduates" of the program receive a chef jacket.

One of the secondary benefits of cooking classes is that kids learn basic academic skills through having fun in the kitchen. Over the course of the past year I have seen my daughter's skills in math and science improve as she learned about measurements, division, and fractions. These were considered advanced skills for first grade math and she would not have been exposed to these concepts in a traditional school setting.

Birthdays
Young Chefs Academy hosts birthday parties and have become a popular place for kids to invite friends and celebrate their special day. Birthday package offerings range from pizza parties or ice cream parties to calzone parties or a fresh pasta party. Party participants receive a Chef's Hat and recipe card, specialized invitations, and party favors are supplied by Young Chefs Academy (drinks, paper goods, balloon decorations, etc.).

Camps
Mini-camps are great fun at Young Chefs Academy, particularly during the long summer months when kids are out of school and parents are looking for something for them to do during the day. This year each three day mini-camp has followed a regional theme with a focus on recipes from different regions around the United States - from pancakes with Vermont maple syrup to Southwest Native American flatbread.

Young Chefs Academy is located in the Galleria Suites shopping center off Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins, GA. Young Chefs Academy is located in the corner suite along with V's Village, The Party Store, Honey Baked Ham, and Curves.
