Young Colorado Student Refuses to Have Patriotic Rights Restrained
High School Student Will Not Remove American Flag
Jeremy Stoppel, a young student at Northglenn High School, told a local television station that he was warned to remove 2 American flags, that are displayed on his truck, because they could "make some feel uncomfortable." This young man had been cited, and had his parking passing suspended, for "squealing his tires." It was at this time a female security guard got on his case about the flags.
Now to the school principal's credit, it was admitted there was no policy against the flags and that the security guard would be addressed about her attitude. The school displays the American symbol within the building, so to caution a student about having them should be considered a double standard.
The real area of concern seems to be why a security guard, that works for the school district, would have a problem with this symbol? She has a concern over the comfort zone of others as it pertains to the flag? Does she not know, or comprehend, that thousands of young men and women are sacrificing their very lives for the right of this citizen to display the flag? Maybe she needs to find a job that conforms to her apparent unfortunate reaction to having an American flag around.
As we approach Sept 11th and remember what this date signifies, many Americans more then ever are showcasing their patriotic fervor to letting known their love for country. The symbol of America's freedom and determination is flying high and more resounding then ever by a people that regard their country in high esteem. One thing not in plain view is a "feeling" of "uncomfortableness" simply by the displaying of the American flag.
This young man is to be commended for standing his ground where his patriotic rights are concerned. America's youth many times are depicted as ne'er do wells and trouble makers. However, when a young person is not willing to be pushed around because he does something that is considered politically incorrect...they should be commended. He took his medicine for the traffic issue and accepted responsibility...but there is no reason that his personal rights for being a proud American should be hampered.
When we allow others to step on patriotism, and other intangible strength qualities, then we of most people should be ashamed.

Post a CommentThe underlying concern is the gradual erosion of rights for those who love our country and now have to defend that - it is insidious, and should concern us all. It intimidates, and shuts people down. And that is what those who intimidate want to achieve. Thanks for this article.
I hadn't heard about this! Ridiculous beyond ridiculous. Our flag making people uncomfortable? Then go home. Makes me sick.
Fly the Flag -fire the idiots!
