Young Men Who Love Hot Moms - Is This Trend Out of Control?

While shopping at Target with my 15 year old daughter I noticed a tee-shirt hanging on the wall. It was dark blue and had white letters on the front that read, "I Love Hot Moms". The word love had been replaced with a red heart. It really caught me off guard. I stood there and looked at it for a minute to make sure I had read it right.

There were several shirts with catchy slogans stocked in the area. Each selection had a sample hanging on the wall with a bin below it which was full of the same shirt in various sizes. The "Hot Moms" shirt was completely sold out. Apparently it was very popular.

Being the mother of three boys ages 26, 20, and 17, I decided to ask them what they thought about the shirt. My 20 year old informed me that all of his friends loved hot moms. I asked him to explain. He said that most of his friends appreciated an older women that still looked good. They apparently believe that older women tend to have more experience (I was afraid to ask what kind of experience), and are usually more confident about themselves.

He went on to say that most girls his age were very immature, shallow, jealous and annoying. My 17 year old son agreed with him. He added that a lot of the girls he knew from his high school were mind-numbingly boring. My 23 year old daughter informed me that several of her guy friends had told her over the years that they thought I was hot. I really didn't want to know which of them had said that.

This new revelation intrigued me so I did a little research. Apparently one thing that is contributing to this new interest in older women is the porn industry. I won't go into details, but the term MILF (I will let you look that one up on your own) surfaced quite frequently during my searches. It appears that the number of young boys and men who view this stuff is increasing rapidly.

Another reason why young men are attracted to older women is because women are taking better care of themselves. Simply put, they look younger than they really are. Plastic surgery has obviously had a big role in this. To many young men it's a win-win situation. You get the looks, experience, and often financial success, without the awkwardness that some young girls have.

The number of adult females (some are moms, some are not) who have had sex with underage boys has increased as well. We have all watched as one attractive women after another is put on trial for statutory rape charges. Many men and boys set with baited breath watching and secretly fantasizing about being the ones who are seduced by these women instead of the victims.

Throughout the ages younger men and boys have developed crushes on their friend's mom, their teacher, or even a relative. This new way of thinking is more than having a harmless crush. It seems that the boundaries of age no longer exist in the sexual realm on many levels.

In a normal, healthy relationship, between two consenting adults. I don't think age should be a factor. I do believe however that we should be careful to teach our sons to respect women and mothers not only as a group, but individually. If the next generation does not respect the sanctity of motherhood and marriage our society will be in great danger.

We should also be teaching our daughters to be confident in who they are. My 15 year old daughter is more confident, intelligent, and secure than many women that I know who are twice her age. She also happens to be gorgeous.

Target, as attractive as their predominately red commercials are, should probably rethink their marketing decision to add "I Love Hot Moms" shirts to their line of products this Christmas season.
