Young Men of War

Mary E. Coe
You can see the tears of joy she cries
She can't stop the flowing from her eyes
As she held her loved one in her arm
So many months since he's been gone
With war and fighting in his past
Her loved one made it home at last
He made it home, at last he's home

Long time in the war zone he did dwell
But, he believes he served his country well Now, he's come home, he made it home

A mother near death in her hospital bed
She may not make it, the doctor's dread
He whispered softly in her ears
The voice she missed, so many years
He said, I'm home, I made it home
They knew not where her strength came from
When she gathered in her arm, her only son
Her son is home, at last he's home

He sat there by his mother's side
Remembering, all those men that died
A bitter war this man did fight
He saw his best friend fight and die
Other men, disabled that same night

So long in the war zone he did dwell
But, he believes, he served his country well
Now he's come home, he made it home.

Young men still fighting a bitter war
Away from home, so very far
Our prayers go with you day and night
Our prayers go with you as you fight
We pray for the day that you come home
Back safely in your loved one arm
We wish not long, till you come home.

You have captured the feelings of every mother in the land with children or a spouse out there in the Middle East.
