Young Pitchers Primed for a Breakout Season in 2010

Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers) - You can argue that Kershaw has already broken out, but still at the ripe young age of 21 Clayton is still very far away from reaching his pitching potential. How is that for a scary thought? I project Clayton to be a top 15 starting pitcher in the 2010 season while racking up between 15 and 20 wins and contributing equally as impressive #'s in strikeouts, ERA and WHIP. It also helps that he plays for the red hot Dodgers team that will give him enough run support to reach those high win totals.

Brett Anderson (Athletics) - Despite pitching for the Oakland Athletics, Brett Anderson put up pretty good numbers in 2009. With the experience gained from this season, Brett will put up spectacular K #'s and provide between 12-16 wins in 2010. A 10th round or later pick is most definitely merited for this fireballer.

Tommy Hanson (Braves) - Tommy Hanson have an excellent season for Atlanta in 2009, and he will only look to build on his dominance as the 2010 campaign kicks off. A midyear pickup in fantasy circles may be a forgotten commodity come draft day. Be sure to keep him on your radar as he will be able to contribute excellent fantasy numbers across all standard categories.

Stephen Strasburg (Nationals) - The #1 overall pick of the 2009 draft will almost definitely be in the starting rotation for the Nationals in 2010. The San Diego State standout has already been tearing it up for the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League this year.

Robinson Tejada (Royals) - Forget about Meche, Tejada is gunning for that number 2 spot behind Grienke. The Royals rotation is going to be a dominant force in 2010.

Brian Duensing (Twins) - Came on strong in the end of the 2009 season and helped lead the Twins to a playoff berth.

Jonathon Niese (Mets) - Will look to be a top 5 starter on the Mets opening day roster in 2010. Still young and raw, he possesses the talent necessary to be great at the major league level and has shown flashes of this potential over the 2009 campaign.
