Here are two best applications that run right on your web browser: YouOS and Meebo. By using them, you would realize how easy and convenient they are.
1. Operating System YouOS:
This is one of twenty most innovative products of 2007 according to PC World. At first, you have to go to www.youos.com and log in or click "Try a Demo". YouOS's appearance is similar to a desktop of any other operating system. It has all of the common applications. For example, WhereWolf is a web browser just like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox; YouChat and YouNiversal are instant messenger programs; YouFeeds allow you to see the news... Best of all, YouOS also has program to play game (YouNES) and edit your document file (YouEditor). Besides, you can share files and folders with YouOS.
However, in order to discover all features of YouOS, you must register with the site. YouOS is still on beta version. Sometimes, I still experience that the page cannot load the application that you open.
2. Instant Messenger Meebo:
Meebo is an application allows you to us instant messenger of Yahoo!, AIM, Google Talk, MSN, ICP, Jabber and of course Meebo. At first, you have to go to www.meebo.com and sign in the messenger program that you want. You can also use many instant messengers at the same time. When logging in, you will see your friendlist on the right side (this list will be added into one if you can use two messenger programs at the same time). Be notice that the website's title bar will change to the sender's name when you receive a message. However, this will be ignored easily, so be sure to aware of the title bar. Similar to other instant messengers, Meebo will display received time and status to see whether your friend is replying or not.
You do not need to register to use this service. However, when you are a member of Meeho, you can use more features like save your text chat, change the graphic detail of the messengers, and switch appearance...
Yet, these two run-on-web applications may have many disadvantages compare with the real application. However, their mobility and convenience must be considered. For example, since my school does not allow anybody to install messenger program into classroom computer, I can still use Meebo to chat with my friends (just a little trick! Do not follow my way!). Well, just try it, you would see they are very useful.
