Your Baby Can Read - Review of the Early Language Development System

Karen Reams
Your Baby Can Read, the early language development system created by Robert Titzer, is a fun way to encourage your child's language development and reading skills. I purchased this system when my grandson was just a year old and began using it on a regular basis, but not as regularly as Titzer suggests.

My grandson never came on in leaps and bounds like the babies on all the advertisements, but I have to tell you that he is now 2 years and 5 months and is beginning to recognize and read words.

There are many parts of this system. First of all there is a set of 5 DVDs that are fun and inter- active. When my grandson first had this system I used to put a DVD on in the car. That way he couldn't get distracted and before long he was singing (in his way) along to the songs, rhymes and actions.

The DVDs feature Dr Titzer's own daughters for whom he first put the system together along with many of their friends. As time has gone on all these babies and children seem to have become part of our family.

Although my grandson loves the DVDs his favorite part of the system are the sliding word cards. The word cards go hand in hand with the DVDs.

This morning my little grandson was able to pick out words such as elephant, zipper, eyes, and nose as well as phrases such as arms up and touch your toes. Remember this little boy is a mere two years and five months.

With the system you also get dual sided cards, word game cards and lift-a-flap books as well as a parents guide.

The fact is young children are like sponges and learning comes naturally. Studies have shown that the earlier a child learns to read the better he is likely to perform in school.

This system is great for children of all ages but to be honest the earlier it is started (just months old) the better.

My grandson has no idea he is being 'educated' (the word every child seems to shy away from!) he just thinks we are having playtime. I have found that the lighter I keep each session the better. If he gets distracted I go with the distraction and then just bring him back to what we are doing.

Another bonus in using this system is his language development. He is beginning to speak much more clearly and attempting more complicated words such as rhinoceros and chimpanzee.

I would recommend Your Baby Can Read to anyone with young children.

At the moment there is a special offer on where you can try the system for $14.95. This offer also includes three free gifts and free shipping and handling.

It is important to point out though that it does take commitment if Your Baby Can Read is going to work but the results are well worth anytime put in.

I got the YBCR videos for my son and was not very happy with them. They were not the best quality videos, and they did not hold my son's attention for long. I thought that the idea of teaching babies to read is very good, but the YBCR videos were lacking in entertainment. My son was just not interested in sitting and watching them. I found a different video series called Monki See Monki Doo, that has the same concept of teaching babies to read. My son LOVES these videos, he dances to the theme song and brings me the DVD to put on for him during the day. It was definitely a good investment. I would definitely recommend these videos for parents. They are much more entertaining with their puppets and original songs and poems. You should definitely look into these before YBCR!

I keep seeing the commercials for this product on Sprout and have been curious. Thanks for the excellent review.
