1. Set realistic goals-The last thing anyone wants to do is make goals they can't keep so be realistic with your weight loss goals. Set real goals with everything from exercise to diet. Make sure that your goals are healthy because crash dieting can be dangerous and can make you extremely sick. and do not get into the habit of starving yourself because you can deplete your body of needed nutrients to function properly. Using laxatives and other drugs to force your body to rid waste is also dangerous too because you can lower your potassium count which is vital for heart and endocrine function. Vomiting as a way to empty yourself is not the way to go either that can also be dangerous because repeated self-induced vomiting will indicate you have an eating disorder and it can also cause cardiovascular problems because it can throw your potassium levels off at dangerous levels. So keep your goals healthy and if you use diet supplements use them according to the manufacturer's directions and drink plenty of water because that's the one thing many people don't get enough of.
2. Establish a healthy diet-Part of sound weight loss is what you are putting on your plate and in your mouth. Eat a balanced diet and stay away from the fast food restaurants because empty calories is what keeps weight on. Eliminate a lot of excess fats and corn syrup from the diet the majority of weight gain in people regardless of race and ethnic background is the high concentration of corn syrup in the foods we're eating today. FYI-corn syrup has 13,000 more grams of sugar than actual sugar that comes from the sugar cane plant. If consumed on a regular basis you can put on 35 pounds or more in a single year.
3. Begin a regular exercise regimen-Regular exercise done at least 3 times a week can help you drop an average of 3 or more pounds a week and you can drop a good 15-20 pounds in a couple months if consistent. If you're going to work out twice a week do it, but always set aside a significant amount of time for exercise and start with low impact workouts to give your body a chance to get used to working out and then increase the intensity over time. Starting slow also doesnt make you nauseous which is a side effect if you overexert yourself and not training your body to gradually work at intense levels especially during exercise.
4. Be consistent in your workout and eating-Weight loss is only effective if you are consistent and committed to working on your health. People who stay consistent in their exercise and diet regimen will see results in a shorter period of time than someone who isnt as committed so consistency is the key to meeting your weight loss goals. Also consistency does call for you to work out a few days and rest a few days. Rest also allows your body to process the work it's been put through and also allows your body to regulate its chemical balance because those who work out too much can also mess up their immune system due to overstressing themselves.
5. Don't cheat-This is the worst thing anyone can do to themselves when they're trying to lose weight and that is cheating if you're not committed to lose weight don't go through with it. Part of successfully losing weight is to not cheat. It's fine to treat yourself, but not to overdo on your favorite foods and treats. Treating yourself should be something you do once in a while.
In order to meet your new year's weight loss goals is to also have a chart to track your progress and to weigh yourself weekly to see if you've lost or gained weight. What many need to keep in mind that there's a chance that you can gain weight since muscle weight is more prominent than fat weight when you're losing weight so don't let that fool you. Focus on the biggest goal and that is losing weight and looking good for swimsuit season in the spring and summer.
That's the main reason aside from health for why many people want to lose weight and that is to look good for the new fashion season and to get that long awaited bathing suit to hit the beach in during the summer. That's a good way to inspire you to want to look your best. Doing the weight loss thing the healthy way will not only make you feel better, but over time you'll look better as well. If you need more inspiration have a friend do this with you because you can be each other's support system in losing weight together.
