Your Business Wardrobe

Today, the modern business world tends to judge the level of your success on your wardrobe. Your attire can have some tremendous impact on your career - both favorable and adverse. With the advent of the modern business norms the concept of the "business casual" has been developed. It is highly important to understand the type of job you are in and what type of attire you should wear to complement your job life - especially when you are in the work place. The clothing you wear depends should reflect your position, your status, and last but not the least your personality. Your dress must complement the aura of your personality, whether you are holding a meeting or in a trade show, you must be careful about dress and the dressing style. When it comes to your career, you should develop a signature style of your own in order project the aura of your personality.

If You Are a Woman

If you are a woman and are seeking a general guide as to what type of work clothing you will want to have in your wardrobe, you should consult the list below.

i) Suit - preferably gray, navy or black

ii) Few scarves - should complement the shades of your suites.

iii) Jackets and skirts should essentially be contrasting

iv) White and off-white blouses

v) Two-piece dress - a few pairs

vi) Formal earrings - preferably of gold, but silver also is great

vii) All weather coat - preferably two - one black and another bluish-black

viii) Jet black pumps

ix) Neutral hosiery

x) Jet-black leather handbag and briefcase.

If You Are a Man

The following are items that men should have in their career wardrobe.

i) Men look good in solid gray, charcoal gray and bluish black suits - preferably one or two each color

ii) Six pairs of black shocks and six pairs of navy shocks

iii) Six solid white cotton shirts and six white shirt with blue strips on white

iv) Ten silk ties of all categories - solid colors, patterned and spotted. The colors must complement the shades of your shirts and suites.

v) A few trousers - preferably black, gray and bluish black

vi) A black leather belt - preferably with glossy finish.

vii) Black or dark burgundy or brown leather briefcase

viii) Two pairs of black shoes that should always be polished.

Having the right clothing is not the only thing you should consider when dressing for your job. It is again very important that all clothing items should always be ironed and your shoes and belt be polished. Your ties should look professionally knotted and have professional designs. Women should make sure that panty hose are free of runs and that the jewelry that is worn complements the outfit, not overpowers it.

To enhance your professional life, be careful to dress accordingly and follow the simple rules of dressing business casual.
