If you are a woman and are seeking a general guide as to what type of work clothing you will want to have in your wardrobe, you should consult the list below.
i) Suit - preferably gray, navy or black
ii) Few scarves - should complement the shades of your suites.
iii) Jackets and skirts should essentially be contrasting
iv) White and off-white blouses
v) Two-piece dress - a few pairs
vi) Formal earrings - preferably of gold, but silver also is great
vii) All weather coat - preferably two - one black and another bluish-black
viii) Jet black pumps
ix) Neutral hosiery
x) Jet-black leather handbag and briefcase.
If You Are a Man
The following are items that men should have in their career wardrobe.
i) Men look good in solid gray, charcoal gray and bluish black suits - preferably one or two each color
ii) Six pairs of black shocks and six pairs of navy shocks
iii) Six solid white cotton shirts and six white shirt with blue strips on white
iv) Ten silk ties of all categories - solid colors, patterned and spotted. The colors must complement the shades of your shirts and suites.
v) A few trousers - preferably black, gray and bluish black
vi) A black leather belt - preferably with glossy finish.
vii) Black or dark burgundy or brown leather briefcase
viii) Two pairs of black shoes that should always be polished.
Having the right clothing is not the only thing you should consider when dressing for your job. It is again very important that all clothing items should always be ironed and your shoes and belt be polished. Your ties should look professionally knotted and have professional designs. Women should make sure that panty hose are free of runs and that the jewelry that is worn complements the outfit, not overpowers it.
To enhance your professional life, be careful to dress accordingly and follow the simple rules of dressing business casual.
