Your Complete Girl Scout Cookie Guide

Lisa Belle
I've sold Girl Scout cookies ever since I was in 1st grade, and this year is my last before going off to college. Every year, people go crazy for the delectable desserts Girl Scouts sell. Unfortunately, Girl Scout cookies can be pricey, but at $3 a box, they're more than worth it. Here is a complete list of the Girl Scout cookies that will most likely be sold this year:

Thin Mints: A Girl Scout classic, these chocolate covered mint cookies are tasty to the point of addictive. 32 cookies come in each box.

Thin Mints make a refreshing frozen treat, especially with a big glass of milk.

Somoas: This Girl Scout Cookie has grown in popularity in recent years, and it's easy to see why: Somoas are vanilla cookies dipped in rich chocolate and sweet caramel and then rolled in coconut. 15 cookies come in each box of Somoas.

Somoas make a great addition to a big bowl of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Trefoils: The simplest cookies of the Girl Scout collection, Trefoils are melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies. Trefoils come with 44 cookies per box.

Trefoils are wonderful as a light mid-day snack or midnight treat.

Tagalongs: Tagalongs are one of two peanut butter-themed cookies; they are scrumptious vanilla cookies dipped in peanut butter and then in chocolate to form a multi-layer dessert. 15 Tagalongs come in each box.

Tagalongs are popular at any party-just make sure no one is allergic to peanuts!

Do-si-dos: Do-si-dos are the second peanut butter-themed cookie. Do-si-dos are a bit like Oreos, except the filling is peanut butter and the outside is peanut butter cookie. 21 of these come in each box.

You can enjoy a mess-free treat with Do-si-dos any time, and they're perfect for an on-the-go energy boost.

Café Cookies: Café Cookies are like spicy, crispy little gingerbread snaps. 45 Café Cookies come in every box.

Café Cookies are perfect with a hot cup of coffee. They can be also be frozen until Christmas for a tasty holiday treat.

Lemon Coolers: Lemon Coolers are a more recent addition to the Girl Scout cookie collection. They're tasty lemon cookies rolled in sour powdered sugar. 33 Lemon Coolers come in each box.

Lemon Coolers make a great sweet and sour treat for after work or at lunch.

Sugar Free Little Brownies: Finally, the Girl Scouts made a cookie that was diabetes-friendly and diet-friendly. Sugar Free Little Brownies are small, square brownies that don't taste sugar free at all. Sugar Free Little Brownies come in boxes of 20.

Sugar Free Little Brownies, as with every type of brownie, are best enjoyed with a glass of milk.

Now that I've told you about the different types of Girl Scout Cookies, you're probably wondering where and when to get them. Cookies are usually sold in February or March, and are delivered in April or May. You can buy Girl Scout cookies many places, including from your neighborhood Girl Scout, in front of your local grocery store, and on girlscoutcookies.org.

I hope this guide has given you some great information on Girl Scout cookies. Proceeds from these tasty treats go to the Girl Scouts organization, which empowers girls from age 5-18 through camps, troops, and activities. Thank you for your support!
