Last night I was cuddled up on the dark blue recliner with my son,Troy. He is actually reading his library book! (A first!) He informs me Taylor gave him her phone number. He recited it to me by memory and said he is supposed to call her! (Another first!) He was all giggly and asked if he could. I said sure. Then Mick, his father, asked him what he was going to say to her. He got all red faced and loud and said he didn't know. So we told him a few things they could chat about. Our other two boys were making faces and rolling their eyebrows wondering why he would want to call a giiiiirl?!!!
It was still dinner time and I told Troy he could call her at 6:30 pm. The other two boys watched the clock like hawks. It was so funny watching how giddy all three of them were.
Finally, the big time rolls around! I dialed the phone number for him and Taylor's mother answered. I told her the situation and she handed the phone to ...siiiigh...Taylor. Troy went to his room on his bottom bunk bed. He was speaking so loud because he is so nervous......laughing...and told her he was on his bed!
They talked about ten minutes and we had to fight the other two boys to leave him alone. They both wanted to listen and talk to her, too. Then they got disconnected. In thirty seconds Taylor called back. We let them talk eight more minutes and told him he had to hang up within the minute.
I spoke to Taylor and she wants Troy to take the bus after school to come over. I told her probably on a Saturday instead. They said their goodbyes and Troy said he'd see her at school tomorrow, repeating what mommy said.
After the phone call he was on cloud nine! I got down to his level and he hugged me so tight and told me he was proud of me! I asked him what I did. His smile couldn't get any bigger and told he told me he was proud of me for letting him call Taylor!
(For the past few months he spoke about Lily..I even saw them innocently flirt at a few school functions as far as kids go. Lily's dad and I were cracking up at them! Hmmm, I wonder what happened to her? Who knows, maybe he will come home with her phone number tomorrow!)
This was cute and all, but we don't want all three of them wanting to start yakking on the phone every night! They are all under seven years old...we want to wait until they are teenagers!
