Your Guide to Finding the Right Family Tent

Mrs. Renee
Finding the right tent for your family is not as easy as picking the right color or look. When it comes to tents the entire family should agree on which one they want. In order to accomplish this task, you will want to take a trip to a store that has an outdoor section or is based on outdoor gear. For example Wal-Mart has an outdoor section to their store, and stores like REI, and Cabela's are made for the families that loves the outdoors. Below you will find several steps that will help you with finding the right family tent.

Take the whole family shopping

It may seem easier to get the shopping done, when you don't have the kids in tow, but it is very important to make sure that they fit comfortably into the tent as well. One of the easiest ways to do this is to take the kids with you to the store. Stores that cater to the outdoor enthusiast will usually allow you to walk around inside of some of the model tents that they usually have set up. If there are no model tents set up they may set one up for you in the store so that you can get a good feel for how it looks.

Make sure all the sleeping bags fit

While you are walking around looking at tents, make sure to take a look at the measurements for each one. In some stores you may be able to lay out the bags inside of the tent so that you can really get a good feel for it. This will let you know how much extra room you have left in your tent after all of your gear is stored inside.

Don't go by the price

In some cases you may want to go with the cheaper tent, but it is really about the quality of the tent and the design. There are dome tents, square shaped tents, or even gigatents. With some many options it is important to sit down and take the time to see what you are paying for.

Ask questions

The stores that are made for outdoor items, often have sales people who know exactly what they are talking about. Of course you still occasionally run across one or two people who do not know what you are referring to, but most do. If you have questions about your tent you should really feel free to ask. Asking questions will only help to ensure you end up getting the right tent.
