Williamsport, IN 47993
If you're visiting Williamsport, a trip to Williamsport Falls is a must. At ninety feet, it is boasted by residents to be the highest waterfall in Indiana. In recent years a gazebo built near the falls provides a spot for picnicing and community events. During the hot summer months, it is possible the waterfall could be dry when you visit. It is sometimes called the "Dry Falls" for this reason.
After visiting the waterfall, stop by Arni's downtown for a pizza. Arni's offers a full pizza and sandwich menu, and has soup and sandwich specials for lunch. Arni's is known locally for having great salads. The backroom at Arni's features a wall to wall air brushed mural of the entire town in a cartoon style. You'll see local business, residents, and officials featured in the mural. I personally recommend the BBQ chicken pizza with extra onion and cheese.
The Williamsport Washington Township Library and Learning Center is a great resource in Williamsport. The library is a spacious and beautiful new facility and is lavishly furnished with real Stickley furniture. You'll sink into the comfy chairs with a good book and never want to return home. The library offers free DVD rentals and internet access. Connected to the library, the Learning Center offers plenty of self-help, and continuing education opportunities including GED classes.
For those interested in antiques, junk, or a combination of the two, The Blue Elephant will have something for you. The Blue Elephant is an antique-junk-variety store with reasonably priced antiques, furniture, books, primitives and other great items.
Also located downtown, you'll be able to see the Blue Elephant from Arni's.
Williamsport hosts a Town-Wide Rummage Sale on the Saturday before Mother's Day every year. There are usually over 75 yard sales in Williamsport that day. In past years, maps were available the morning of the sale at the Blue Elephant and BP service station.
As the county seat of Warren County, Williamsport offers easy access to the courthouse, as well as a local BMV branch. Williamsport is also home to a grocery store, a senior center, a newspaper, an active community foundation, and two gas stations. For more options in shopping, Williamsport is conveniently located a half hour east of Danville,Illinois, and 45 minutes southwest of Lafayette, Indiana.
If you're looking for quiet small town living, with plenty of conveniences then Williamsport may be the place for you.
