If you're a leaf peeper, and plan to visit Lake Placid during the fall, be sure to stop by the Hughes Art Gallery from October 13th to December 27th to view their Fall Art Show. The show includes, Pottery from the Jay Craft Center, watercolors by Jacqueline H. Altman, mixed media by Italo Clemente, jewelry by Jen VanBenschoten, and Ann Richardson, tole by Jean Wyman, weavings by Lis Barsuglia -Madsen, and paintings by Louise Patinelli. On November 23rd, the Stars On Ice kick of their holiday show at the Rink Herb Brooks Arena.
Be sure to stop at the Adirondack Craft Center and peruse the huge variety of handmade crafts including baskets, pottery, weaving, jewelry, books, sculptures, candles, quilts, furniture and dcor, soap, food products and so much more. They are said to have over three hundred producers from all over the country. What's a great day of shopping without some sweets? Finish off your day at the Candy Man Homemade Adirondack Chocolates, with over 100 chocolates, and other candies, how can you possibly go wrong?
Lake Placid is the place to be for all winter sports and activities. Whether you like to sit back and watch or you prefer to join in on the fun, you are sure to find something to do here! See world class athletes train and compete in bob sled racing and more at the Olympic Sports Complex all winter long. Join in the fun at the Empire State Winter games in February where you can alpine ski, bobsled, cross country ski, figure skate, place ice hockey and snow shoe from the 22nd to the 24th.
