Your Home

Shirley A Mandel
You are welcome
in my home, Lord.

But be forewarned,
I'm not a neat-nick.
Sometimes my tables are not clean,
and all the time
my bed is not made.
But you are welcome here anyway
with the dust and all.
And in fact,
I'll let you live here.

The rich people of this world
have their summer home
and their winter homes.
They have their townhouses
in New York
and their condos in Hawaii.
And the really rich
have their villas in France
in which to vacation.
But You Lord
have your Danville home,
for you can come
as often as you wish
and stay as long as you like.

You are family.

How different would our lives be if we thought like this every single day? I think I would have a more positive attitude, treat others with more kindness, and enjoy sweeter fellowship with Jesus.

This reminds me of a poem I once read about the Lord coming three times to a rich mans house disguised as a peasant. Each time he was turned away until the fourth time when he came cleaned up and in an elegant robe. On the fourth visit he was welcomed in but instead taught the host a lesson by revealing his identity as the Lord and that he had already been by three times but was turned away.

Nice poem Shirley, I think when we help others we are in a sense welcoming the Lord into our home.
