1. Study the schedule
You and your emcee should know the schedule of the entire event. Both of you must know it well. Orient him on when he will speak, when he will crack jokes, and his break time. Organizing things this way will create a stress-free event for both you and the emcee. Much better if you create a time schedule of activities that will serve his guide.
2. What suites well
As I have said, your emcee should be oriented on the things he will do. if your event is an afternoon tea party, he should be serious and should think about what jokes to crack. The opposite goes to open or rocking events such as birthdays and launchings.
3. What he should do
You are responsible for what your emcee will be doing. He might ask you this question and you should have a straight and prepared answer. The entertainment that he will show should be appropriate for the event.
4. Conversation
The first three steps all goes down to this: conversation. It is absolutely necessary to converse with your emcee days before the event. Most emcees add in their own ideas which are also very helpful. Only tell him the proceedings and what kind of event will be. A professional emcee will be able to know exactly what to do.
5. The Contract
Keeping a contract with your emcee is a sure thing. It must contain his shift, his payments, and what he should and not do. Be open to suggestions and keep some important party laws. This will be an insurance that none of both parties will be cheated and your guests won't go home crying about that not so funny jokes thrown on them.
6.Last Note
Be friendly to your emcee. Be open to ideas and suggestions. Remember that he knows hosting more than you do. Both of you should not demand for it can cause conflicts and misunderstandings.
