When your child is born, you have in mind what you would like your kid to be. One of the most admirable lines of work that a kid can grow up to be is a fireman. It takes hard work and dedication to be one though. In order to get your kid to grow up to be a fireman, you should take certain steps throughout his/her life to bring him/her to the conclusion that being a fireman is the only way to go.

How to get your kid to grow up to be a fireman:

Visits to the fire department- If you want to get your kid to grow up to be a fire fighter, one of the best ways is to take him/her on frequent visits to the fire department to see all the equipment there. Children respond well to seeing fire trucks and other equipment used. Ask if your child can sit in the fire truck to give him/her an even bigger thrill.

Firemen- Have a fireman come talk to your child about being a fireman. This can be done at different intervals while your child is growing up. The fireman can tell your kid why he/she likes being a firefighter and what is so great about it.

Play- Play is a great way to get your children interested in things. Buy children's turnout gear for your little one and play "firefighter" with him/her. This is a great way for the child to learn more about the great things concerning being a firefighter.

Role Model- Be a good role model for your child if you want him/her to become a firefighter. Become a firefighter yourself through volunteer work. Kids often follow in the footsteps of their parents. Children who have parents in the fire service often grow up wanting to do it themselves.

Don't Make them Afraid- Talking about how dangerous it is to be a fireman might not be the best way to get your kid to grow up to be a fireman. Scary stories about fires will only make your child not want to become a fireman.

Talk about Firemen- Talk about firemen that you may know or that you have heard of that has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Do this throughout your child's life if you want him/her to grow up to be a fireman. This will reinforce why you want your child to grow up to be a fireman.

New York- Teach your child about incidents like ground zero and how the firefighters did everything they could to save people's lives that day. Teaching your child about the heroes that firemen can be will also help reinforce the reasons your kid should become a firefighter.

Show Respect- Show respect for firemen and make it evident to your children. Your kid cannot grow up to be something that his/her parents have shown little respect for over the years. This will give your child a better chance at deciding to become a firefighter.

Hard Work- Teach your kids the value of hard work. Firefighters have to work very hard and becoming a fireman will require that your child know the value of working hard.

Teamwork- Your kids should also know how to work well within a team. Team effort is essential in firefighting. If your kid doesn't know how to work well within a team, he/she will not be able to become a fireman.

These are the best ways to ensure your kid will grow up to be a fireman. Being a fireman is hard work but it is also very satisfying. It is likely to be a career that won't be affected too much by lay offs because there will always be fires to put out and lives to save.
