Your Kitchen Will Sell Your Home

Shannon Frye
If you are thinking about selling your home you should know that your kitchen will potentially sell your home. If you have a good size kitchen but it needs a little bit of work you will want to do some small things which will make a huge difference in your kitchen. Perhaps you want to place new hardware on the kitchen cabinets. Home Depot has a very large suppy of hardware for your cabinets and you can purchase hardware for around $20. There's no better way of updating your kitchen than purchasing new and easy to use handles for your cupboards. Make sure that the hardware matches everything else in your kitchen. If you have stainless steel appliances, perhaps go with handles that will accent your appliances.

If you cannot afford to change your cupboards you can paint over your old cupboards. Perhaps your cupboards have been painted before but the paint is starting to peel off of the cupboard doors. You will want to sand down the old paint and start from scratch. Do not paint your cupboards something that will not appeal to certain people. One of the standard colors that people choose is usually white. Think about using two cupboards that meet together in order to create some type of see through cabinet. You can purchase a piece of glass to go on the cabinet to showcase some wine glass or decorative vases.

Another thing that you can do is remove the cupboard doors and stain over the cupboards. You can sand down the cupboards if the cupboards are real wood. You can then purchase a lighter or darker color of stain to place on your cupboard doors. It's much easier to stain the cupboards while they are on the floor, rather than up higher where you cannot reach them. Pick a stain that will still match the existing area around the cupboard doors.

Another nice thing to do is purchase some small tiles and create a back splash, especially around the stove and sink area where the wall can get dirt on it from cooking or washing dishes. Before you do this make sure to clean the wall with a damp towel. You will need to purchase some type of glue to stick the tiles to the wall. You can purchase small tiles from a store such as Home Depot. You can also look up pictures of back splashes to see what would look the best in your home.
