The first way to save money on eBay is to not even look. Don't long onto the site, at al. EBay can be habit forming, if not addicting. The thrill of the bidding frenzy, for buyer and seller, is a powerful attractant. If you are a highly addictive type person - steer clear of eBay. If you feel you will be able to control your impulses, by all means proceed to www.ebay.com and bid, bid, bid.
To get a great buy on eBay, you need patience. If you have to get a specific CD, by next Friday for Uncle so-and-so's birthday, a great buy on eBay, might not be for you. You can still find a good buy with a buy-it-now option though.
When looking for the great buy on eBay, set yourself specific parameters - What are you looking for? What price range (including shipping/handling), options, warranty/guarantee, new/used, brand, etc... With your specifics in mind, do a little research and see what recent like items have sold for. Now you will be able to tell when you have found a great buy on eBay.
The easiest way to find a great buy on eBay is to find a seller's mistake. There are many people who make a living off of others errored listings; misspellings, wrong categories, poor titles, bad or no pictures. Misspelled titles are one of the easiest ways to find a great buy on eBay. There are several free online sources to help you find misspelled items on eBay: Fatfingerstypotrackerauction-enterprise and many more, as well as software that you can buy and customize. For example you are looking for 'diamond ring', on the website for fatfingers, you type in 'diamond ring'. It gives you back a listing of possible misspellings for 'diamond ring' and all the listings on eBay with those misspellings, i.e. dianond ring, diamond rimg, diamomd ring, diamond ribg, diamobd ring, diamond rinh, diamond rinf, diamonf ring, fiamond ring, diamons ring, siamond ring, dismond ring, diampnd ring, diamind ring, diamond rong, doamond ring, diamond rung, duamond ring, diimond ring, diamond rang, daamond ring, diamond rinb, diamond rinj, diamond rind, diamong ring, giamond ring, diamonj ring, jiamond ring, diamonb ring, biamond ring, diamond rinn, diamond riig, diamond rrng, diamond ing, diamonddring, diamonn ring, diamood ring, diammnd ring, diaaond ring, diimond ring, ddamond ring, diamond ringg, diamond rinng, diamond riing, diamond rring, diamondd ring, diamonnd ring, diamoond ring, diammond ring, diaamond ring, diiamond ring, ddiamond ring, diamond rign, diamond rnig, diamond irng, diamondr ing, diamon dring, diamodn ring, diamnod ring, diaomnd ring, dimaond ring, daimond ring, idamond ring, diamond rin, diamond rig, diamond rng, diamond ing, diamondring, diamon ring, diamod ring, diamnd ring, diaond ring, dimond ring, damond ring, iamond ring) You can quickly browse thru these and see that many will have 0 bids, and others will be receiving less bids than a correctly spelled item. EBay doesn't offer a spell check feature for the listing title. Lesson to eBay sellers - always proof-read your title.
On eBay there are many thousands of categories. Sometimes items get listed in wrong categories, and potential buyers can't find them when they are searching by category. This mistake will often cause a lower price than average. These mistakes aren't as easy to locate. Often times, your great buy on eBay will be a combination of mistakes made by the seller: misspelled title in the wrong category. These items rarely get bids and are the perfect way to get a great buy on eBay.
"A picture is worth a thousand words." A saying that is very true on eBay. Some items just won't sell without a picture. For example "6 drawer dresser, antique." Without a picture in the gallery, a lot of potential buyers will pass it by in their search. If there are no pictures in the listing at all or they are poorly exposed, same outcome, little or no bids. If the description says 'will email pics' or 'not sure how to add pics to eBay' or 'my camera is broken', you are likely dealing with a new or inexperienced eBayer. This might be your great deal on eBay. If the descriptions thoroughly describes the item i.e.: Ethan Allan 6 Drawer Dresser LxHxW model#123, year 1971, nutmeg original finish, perfect condition, etc... and this is exactly what you are looking for, then you likely have found your great buy on eBay.
When looking for a great buy on eBay, proceed with caution. If you find the deal that just seems too good to be true, be careful. There is no "Ocean front property in Arizona". On eBay, as in commerce everywhere, there are thieves. Check out seller feedback, the sellers warrantee/guarantee or return policy, and be sure of what you are buying. Buyers have inadvertently purchased empty boxes of an item, instead of what was in the box. When purchasing form another county- always be careful. If shipping insurance is offered, consider it.
These are only a few of many ways to find a great buy on eBay. Good Luck and Happy EBaying!!
