Chicago is a world class city. There is so much to do and see in Chicago. There are plenty of fun things to do with a family in Chicago. Chicago also offers many educational experiences for the family as well. The biggest problem with Chicago offering so much to do and see is knowing what are the best things to see and where to stay while you are seeing them. Chicago is known as the Windy City for a reason. It gets windy in Chicago. Not only windy but cold. The best times of the year to go to avoid the cold weather are between April through November. Of course at both extremes of these times you still may hit some cold weather but snow is less likely in any of these months. Which hotel is the best for your family to stay in depends on your budget. The Four Seasons Hotel Chicago is one of the nicest in the city but will cost you. Being a major city getting any room in the city will be expensive but there are some good rooms at good prices if you know where to look. For budget minded families the Hotel Palomar is not only affordable it is in a great location and you get more then you pay for.

Getting around Chicago is fortunately easy thanks to the L or elevated train system that runs through all the major parts of the city. Getting a weekly pass for the family will be cheaper and easier then renting a car.

When you are seeing the sites you will need to eat. Hagens Fish Market is popular and cheap if you like fish. Schwa is a popular but high priced spot for American food.
