Where does peace come from anyway? Is it a result of happy conditions or is it just some trait, which some have and some do not? True and lasting peace comes from within. So long as you have tranquility residing within you, then you will amazingly also experience peace on the outside of you.
"May the storms of life beat in vain." _Henry Thomas Hamblin
Truly, to acquire peace is to develop a mindset where you can allow the conflicts of life pass by, just as you would if you were caught in the midst of snowy weather. You know that it will pass, so you accept it and you proceed with your usual affairs. It is a self-defeating behavior to hold on to thoughts of worry or to grumble and complain about your present circumstances. Everything in this life with pass away, including each and every hour, each and every creature, each and every day, and each and every CIRCUMSTANCE.
This Too Shall Pass.
The benefits of practicing acceptance to sustain peace is that you will find yourself to soon also be experiencing more happiness - an internal state of bliss. To achieve this, all you have to do is spend a few minutes everyday to focus your thoughts on acceptance and gratitude. Be grateful for all that God has allowed to enter into your life. In all truth, every encounter is working for your benefit, whether you know it, accept it, or like it.
Just your one single decision to accept all of life with gratitude, will have an incredible viral effect on all those who come in contact with you. They will notice your glow - your aura. Haven't we all met people like this - people who seem to have an unusual ability to shine even in a dark atmosphere?
Make up your mind to accept every condition as temporary and to take from every trial, whatever lesson life is trying to teach you. This is the secret to sustained peace of mind. Put it to practice, and you will be pleasantly surprised when one day you are going about your usual affairs and then you suddenly realize that you have an unusual "Peace that passes all understanding".
