Your Vote and What Matters the Most

The US election is coming really soon. The need of the hour is to vote for the right candidate. Election to the office of President of US is nearing. We, senior citizens, have seen a dozen such elections. But this election in the year 2008, is not a routine election. This election is historic. It is presumed that, this time, the Democratic presidential candidate is likely to be elected into the White House.

But, before we go to vote for any candidate, we have to ponder on certain important issues:

Who is the right candidate? Normally, when we hear to the talks of leaders, it would become difficult to judge whether their contentions are correct. We find each candidate to be right in their own way. This presentation of opposing parties may spoil the minds of the voters and in effect, the democracy is poisoned. This is because; the voters are unable to decide who the right candidate is. The voters have to vote with caution, so that they make the best choice. But the voters have to be careful and precise in their decision making and not be carried away with the loud speeches of the different parties or groups.

It is now time, we have to make an honest choice. For this, we have to educate ourselves read news papers, watch television news, hear radio talk and engage in group discussion. We have to actively participate in such discussions. This make us disciplined in our decision making. We, the senior citizens, have to walk up with conviction that the right opinion is expressed by us. If this is to be done, we can with conviction, exercise right choice in this election; and thereby we can uphold America's ideals. We should not be carried away just by ideologies but by realities and we should vote for the good of America. Just arguments and counter arguments will not serve any purpose. Any one, who has influence, can easily influence and take undue advantages in Democracy. Therefore appropriate correct decision about the candidate is the need of the hour.

White House is not a bed of roses, now it is a place of agonizing anxiety, particularly in this delicate political and national climate. Therefore, the person walking into the White House should be the most fitting, who can handle all the situations effectively. So, it is important that we should make the right choice. Choice we make will not be 100% accurate. Exercising our right choice is all that one can do; what ultimately matters is the integrity.
