There are many jobs that have environments that may be detrimental to your health. Mining is one. You are usually working underground where it is dusty. Breathing the dust is not good for your chest. The dust can cause lung disease and or cancer. Welding is another especially when you are welding in restricted environments such as in a pipe. You are inhaling poisonous fumes. If you work in steel works you are bending a lot and putting pressure on your knees which will over time result in the wearing out of your cartridges in your knees resulting in bone rubbing against bone resulting in arthritis. Another job detrimental to your health is plastering. You inhale fumes from the concrete which is bad for your chest. Also you are lifting concrete which will do damage to your back. Once you injure your back you will most likely be stuck with your back problem for the rest of your life. Another job that can give you bad health in the long run is as a carpenter making furniture. Glue used is toxic. You are breathing the fumes from the glue which goes into your lungs. Also you are breathing sawdust which also gets into your lungs causing possible cancer and/or asthma. Truck drivers also may have health issues. Long distance truck drivers have a schedule to meet. Most will drive non stop through the night to meet their schedule. As a result they have lack of sleep which has long term detrimental consequences to their health as they are not getting the required hours of sleep to rejuvenate their bodies. Also they eat fast foods which also will ruin their health. Sure the money is good but you need to consider your long term health.
Working in factories is not the only environment that can have a detrimental consequence to your health. Working in an office environment can also have bad consequences to your health. Usually people working in an office sit for most of the day. The design of the chair you are sitting on is very important. If the chair is not well designed, it can lead to bad back problems. I have known people who have bad back problems simply from sitting in badly designed chairs.
You can however limit the chance of damaging your health. If you work in a factory consider wearing special masks that limit the inhaling of dangerous dust and fumes. Also wear protective clothing and shoes. If you are a truck driver stop the truck and take a nap. Also take packed healthy lunches instead of eating junk food. If you work in an office persuade your boss to get a suitable chair that is well designed. Exercise more to keep you fit and do weight training to strengthen your bones and burn the fat.
