Youth Baseball Leagues in Upper Darby, Pa

Great Sport and Wonderful Programs

Jennifer Bove
A great service to the children of Upper Darby, Pa is the wonderful youth association baseball leagues. This helps teach children a lot of what they need to know in life and gives them a fighting chance instead of just wandering aimlessly. Upper Darby, Pa has an estimated 11,983 school age children. Youth programs are extremely important in such a crowded area of over 10,000 residents per square mile, eight miles total.

Westbrook Park Youth Association

My son, now fifteen, has played baseball for Westbrook Park Youth Association since he was seven. A great group of parents lead and fill in the spaces here. At the start of the season, both boys leagues and girls leagues march through the center of Westbrook Park through the residential area and end up at Scullion field. There they stop for treats, lunch and a fun game. Then the rest of the season is upon us and the games for my son's league last year were split between Scullion Field and Westbrook Park Elementary School Baseball field. More time definitely being at the school. Other team's times are split up between Clifton field, Scullion Field, Westbrook Elementary, Gillespie Field and Delmar Park. Contact for this YA unfortunately is a little less accessible than others I've seen, probably due to the fact it is such a close knit community they feel pretty secure with word of mouth and flyers in school. Once you are there and signed up though, cell numbers are given out and communication is never a problem. It is $75.00 to sign up, and ages range from four to sixteen. The league's building is located in the park of scullion Field, address and phone are as follows:

Whitehall Dr
Upper Darby, PA 19082
610-623-9450

Clifton Heights PAL

What a wonderful resource to have. Outstanding citizens and police officers to guide your children not only through baseball, but life lessons as well. Boys Baseball is ages 7 to 17. The sign-up fee is $75.00. However, they put a maximum fee at $150, a great help when you have more than two children playing ball.
The games and practices are held at the following locations:
Ernie Pietropola Memorial Field, Revere Field, Wyncliff Field and Glenwood Field, which is located at:
300 Glenwood Ave,
Clifton Heights, PA, 19018

Upper Darby High School Baseball

Upper Darby High has an excellent staff and their baseball team is no exception. The great thing about playing for the high school is there are more opportunities presented to the player. It is important to keep in mind though, if your child is playing baseball as more of a laid back activity that just keeps them out of trouble a bit and so much more, but are not extremely competitive, you may want to think twice before having them join the high school team. It is a great wonderful program, but definitely a lot more competitive. This team is only open to students, and with nearly 4,000 students at the high school, there definitely is not a lac of kids to quickly fill the team. The high school is located at:

601 N Lansdowne Ave
Drexel Hill, PA 19026
610-622-7000

I used to love to play baseball, but in my day they didn't have any girls' leagues. Girls were expected to play softball.

Jenn, either your up late or I'm up early! This was a wonderful article - I actually watched a few young boys throwing the ball around on the little league field near us. Baseball is an all-American past time! cheers :)
