YouTube may be coming to a television near you.

Apple Inc. released a statement saying that they plan on introducing the ability for Apple TV owners to access YouTube straight from their televisions, according to the Associated Press. They plan on releasing a video-streaming set-top-box to do this. Starting in mid-June, anyone who uses the Apple TV device will be able to wirelessly stream videos directly from the popular YouTube straight to their televisions. Some say that this newest feature will help address the shortcomings of Apple TV. The device will be slim and the size of a book. It will stream movies and songs that are stored in the users iTunes personal library. It will not be able to access directly Internet-based videos.

This new Apple TV feature will become available to the public as a free software update. Members of Youtube will be able to log right onto their accounts directly from their TV sets. YouTube is currently owned by Google, Inc.

Apple's chief executive, Steve Jobs, was available for comment. "This is the first time users can easily browse, find and watch YouTube videos right from their living room couch, and it's really, really fun.YouTube is a worldwide sensation, and Apple TV is bringing it directly from the Internet onto the wide screen TV", according to the Associated Press.

When this new feature is first launched, there will be thousands of the most popular and most current videos that are on YouTube immediately available. More will be added on a weekly basis until the full YouTube catalog is accessible on Apple TV, beginning this fall.

And thats not all. Apple is offering a better model of Apple TV this Thursday. This model will quadruple its maximum storage capacity with a 160-gigabyte hard drive. The price for this model will be $399. Earlier, Apple also began selling some songs that do not have copyright protection on its iTunes Store. This was an expected move. Some analysts predict that this will be a model for future online music sales.

Shares of Apple closed at $118.77, which is up $4.42, or close to 4 percent. It gained another 28 cents in extended trading, according to the Associated Press.
