YouTube Channels for DIY Home Repair and Improvement

Having written instructions for completing home repairs and projects can be very helpful for DIY enthusiasts. Good books or Internet sources will include pictures to help you on your way. Unfortunately there are times when even the best books and on-line sources can be confusing especially for more novice DIY'ers.

The ability to watch a video and see exactly how a job is done can greatly reduce the confusion and guess work about the job you wish to do. Watching a full demonstration before you start on a repair or improvement project allows you to see anything the written instructions may leave out. It can also help you determine if you really can complete the project yourself. While some home improvement websites do offer video links there is a wealth of information that can be found on YouTube.

Ask the Builder has 278 videos available and provides information for everything from laying tile to deck staining. They also offer a subscription service. The videos provided are well detailed and good quality. You can also go to their website for a list of available videos as well as a newsletter and written articles.

Home Addition Plus offers a wide range of information on home improvement and DIY projects. Ebooks are available for purchase through their website as well. You can view videos for home improvement on their YouTube channel and you can subscribe to the channel if you would like. A subscription is not required to view the videos.

Home Lifestyle TV has a slightly different approach for instructional videos. You must first log into their website to gain access. Once you locate one of their YouTube links you can access other video links without signing into the website itself.

Bob Vila has his own YouTube channel. 113 videos are available and you can choose to subscribe to the channel. Bob Vila is well known for his work and he goes into detail on his home improvement projects. The YouTube videos are good quality and his instructions are easy to follow.

Expert Village has a YouTube channel with over 100,000 videos. Not all of these videos are for DIY home repair or improvement projects and you will need to do some searching for the subjects that interest you. One starting point you might choose is Basic Home Repairs. This particular video is about drywall repair and by using the scroll bar on the right hand side of the page you can find other videos that are posted. Expert Village consists of user created videos and some contain better information than others.

No matter what source of information you choose for your DIY projects always take into account who is providing the information. Some of the sources you find may not be as good as others. Bob Villa is one example of a trusted source of expert information on home repair and improvement projects. If something in a video seems to be incorrect take the time to check other sources before you begin. Always view the video fully before starting and follow all safety procedures to ensure a good outcome.
