YouTube Video & Search Guide for YouTube.com

As you may already know, YouTube.com has changed the way videos are viewed on the Internet. YouTube.com is a website where you can view videos from all around the world. On YouTube, you can also upload your own video for everyone to see. In this article, I will give you some helpful tips on how to use YouTube.com.

Sign Up an Account

Creating an account on YouTube is the most important part of website. Although you can view videos without creating an account, you must have an account to upload videos, rate videos, and comment on videos. Creating an account is completely free, and the only thing you will need is a valid e-mail address to sign up. The first step in creating an account is going to the website, YouTube.com. Once you are at YouTube.com, you are going to want to click on the Sign Up hyperlink at the top of the page. After the sign up screen has loaded, type in your e-mail address into the designated spot. Next, you are going to type in the username of you choice (Hint: Click on the check hyperlink next to the username to check if that username is available for use). The next step is creating a password. You will need to make you password something that you can remember for later use. After you have typed in you password, type the same thing again in the space below labeled Confirm Password. The next final step to creating your account is filling in the personal information; Country, Postal Code, Gender, and Date of Birth. Last, enter the verification text in the correct space, and click the Sign Up button at the bottom. Now you are able to use everything that YouTube has to offer.

Search for Videos

To search for videos on YouTube, you must first locate the Search Bar at the top or bottom of any page on YouTube.com. Once you have found the Search Bar, type in the keywords for the YouTube video that you would like to find, and click on the Search button. Once on the results page, select the video that you would like to watch.

How to Add (Upload) Videos

In order to add videos to YouTube, you must first be signed in to your account. Next, while on the YouTube homepage, click on the yellow Upload button in the upper right corner of the page. Then, type in the information needed; Title, Description, Video Category, and Tags. After that, select the options that you would like for your video. Next, click on the Upload a video button at the bottom, and browse for your video. After the correct video file is selected, click on the Upload Video button, and wait for your video to be uploaded. Once your video is uploaded, it can be viewed on YouTube.com by other users who search for the tags that you used.

How to Rate Videos

When rating a YouTube video, you must be logged in to YouTube. In order to rate a video, you will need to be watching any video on YouTube.com. When viewing the video, you will notice 5 stars below the video. After viewing the video, determine how good the video was on a 5 star scale, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Next, click on the appropriate star, and the rating will be complete.

How to Comment On Videos

Commenting on a video is very helpful in letting the user know what others thought of their video. Like many of the other YouTube features, you must be logged on to post a comment. After viewing a video, you may like to express how you though about the video. In order to do that, click on the Post a text comment hyperlink in the Comments & Responses section below the video. Next, type in what you would like to say about the video, and click on the Post Comment button. The post will now show up on the comment board.
