You've Just Been Arrested for a Felony You Didn't Commit

Now What?

Whilst some insurances are mandatory, for obvious reasons, there is one very overlooked area of insurance which I believe will eventually become mandatory in this great country, USA. Indeed it should be that way already, since it is currently costing the Government, and more particularly you, the taxpayer your hard earned millions every year. What am I talking about?

Identity Theft Protection.

Do you realize that 1 out of every 10 people is affected directly by ID theft, in one form or another? I hope you're not # 10.

Do you realize that it is not just your SSN being used to purchase items, apply for credit cards in your name...and the list goes on. It is becoming increasingly popular practice for these crooks to use your good name and standing to gain use of your Medical Insurance and commit felonies in your name.
What happens then if you're taken to hospital and given a shot of something you're allergic to, since the crook who used your Medical ID last had that shot, how are your Doctors supposed to know? What if you're unconscious and cannot relay this life threatening information? Furthermore, what happens when you're pulled over by a Law Enforcement Officer and taken to jail because there are several warrants out in your name, for crimes you did not commit?
Who will you call? How will you pay an attorney to get you off the hook? Who will post your bail? And then to add insult to injury, do you even know how to clear your good name afterwards?

I previously worked in this field and I can tell you that the extent of damage to you and your families, and your personal and financial future depends completely on protecting yourself from these criminals. The scope of harm which can be bought to you is only limited by the creativity of the person who steals your Identity.

This is such a worrying trend in society. I hadn't even considered how having your identity stolen could impact the medical treatment you receive.
