Yummy July 4th Sidedishes for the BBQ

B. Hatcher
Our family has been bbqing since I can remember but the best part is of course the side dishes that come with the BBQ. Here are a few of my favorites!

Potatos in foil

6 to 8 baking potatoes
small onion
green pepper (or any color pepper works)
1 stick of butter
pepper
salt

Cup up potatoes into cubes
Dice up onion
Cut pepper into slices
Salt and Pepper to taste
Cube butter

Place all ingredients on a extra large sheet of foil. Wrap up tight. Wrap another sheet of foil over. Place either on grill or near coals for 30 min. Carefully turning with tongs after 15 min. When done carefully unwrap and you will have some great tasting potatoes.

Baked Beans
These I love to make the night before in the crockpot. Waking up to this smell always tells us it is time to BBQ!

2 cans pork n beans
2 cans of kidney beans
2 cans of white beans
1 onion diced
1 green pepper diced
6 slices of bacon cooked
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup of bbq sauce

Dump into a crockpot. Turn on low for at least 5 hours. Enjoy the best baked beans of the Midwest

Hope you enjoy these as much as my family does.
