Yummy Oyster Cracker Snack

A Tasty and Inexpensive, Snack

Amy Gibbons
I first learned about this recipe from a friend who brought it to Lace Group Parties. When she passed away, I inherited the opportunity to bring "the crackers." This snack seems an ideal combination of salt and spice. Over the years I have altered the recipe and have come up with my own adaptation. At home I can keep the crackers in a closed tin and as long as I don't open it, I am safe. Once I start eating them, it is hard to stop. They are easy and inexpensive to make. They store well in a sealed container and everyone seems to love them.

Ingredients:
1 envelope of Hidden Valley Ranch, Original Ranch Dressing
1 teaspoon of dill weed
1 teaspoon of lemon pepper
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 1/4 cup cooking oil
2 - 12 ounce packages of Oyster Crackers
- I try to get flatter crackers, rather than the smaller, taller crackers

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.

Put the crackers in an 11" x15" baking pan (if you don't have a large pan, you could use a broiler pan)

Mix the first four ingredients in a small bowl. Add the oil to the mixture and stir until smooth. Pour over the crackers and stir with a spatula. You are not trying to mix this well, but hoping to distribute the mixture through the crackers. It won't get everywhere, but don't worry, it will the next time you stir.

Bake for 10 minutes and stir gently again. Bake for ten more minutes and remove from the oven. Cool and put in a container. Serve with a spoon rather than having folks just take handfuls.
