Yunnan Paiyao Traditional Chinese Herb Treat Bleeding, Pain and Injuries
Rapid Treatment to Stop Bleeding or Coagulate Blood Loss
Mr. Qu Huangzhang practitioner of Chinese medicine from Yunnam Province in China formulated (1902) from various herbs Yumnan Baiyao ("Yunnan white powder" - made in Yunnan China 2). This herbal medicine successfully and fast treats bleeding wound, bruises, coagulated internal bleeding (Including ulcer and menstrual bleeding 11) and treats backache and arthralgia (pain in the joints 3). 4 Also, Yunnam Baiyao used to inhibit cerebral hemorrhage. 12 During the Taierzhuang Battle of 1938 (between Japanese forces and Chinese) Yunnam Baiyao saved the lives of many soldiers from battle wounds (Mr. Huaangzhang donated 30,000 bottles of the herbal medicine). In 1940's army commander Wu Xuexian expected to undergo an amputation of his right leg after incurring life threatening injury, however after being treated by Mr. Huangzhang Yunnam Baiyao recovered without undergoing an amputation. Mr.Qu Huagzhang formula to manufacture Yumman Baiyao was donated to Yuman municipal government by his wife (Liao Lanying) after his death. In 1996, four Yman Baiyao factories where established from refurbished factories and reformed into Yunnan Baiyao Group Company Limited. The company established a registration trade mark.Yunfen for the brand Yunnan Baiyao, available for sale in different forms: Powder, capsule (In a sheet of 16 plus shock pill . 7 The red pill or "Insurance Pill" concentrated form of Yunnan Baiyao (Baozianzi) included in the package, taken for a serious emergency case or severe loss of blood and near loss of consciousness. 14) tincture (Liquid - good for rashes 7), atomized (aerosol form - cream colored can 5) and plaster ("Open a capsule and empty the contents onto the cut or bruise." Cover the site with a bandage.7). 4

In the manufacturing of Yunnan Paiyao, complex organization of thirteen separate teams (None of whom have any knowledge of the ingredients the other team are mixing.) formulates proportionately ingredients into making Yunnan Paiyao. "The formula is so closely guarded that only one copy of it exists - locked for safety and security in the safe of the General commanding the Chinese armed forces." 5
Yunnan Paiyao treats major and minor trauma. 7 "The clotting time for human blood in a test tube was observed to be reduced by 33%. In animals, studies where actual body bleeding rate was examined, it was cut by 54%." 6 When less blood loss occurs, decreases the cost and subsequent side effects of blood replacement treatment. 14 Also, Yunnan Baiyao used to treat rashes (Poison Ivy or Poison Oak), reduces healing time for breaks and fractures, and treatment of ulcers. 7 According to a report, when Yunnan Paiyao is taken before oral surgery, post operative patients recover faster, no complaints regarding pain and have no excessive bleeding (Facilitates mending injured blood vessels. 8). 2 Published in 'Complete Guide to Asian Herbal Medicine' written by Letha Hadady(Chapter devoted to Yunnan Paiyao in Asian Health Secrets), recommends Yunnan Paiyao for those who have disfiguring scars and deep wounds speeds up healing. 2 "Next, it could be eaten raw directly to relieve chest pains." "Cold foods require strong digestion." If Yunnan Paiyao upsets the stomach or makes a person dizzy recommend taking it with some warm soup." 2 Elderly, children and pregnant women should first consult their physician ("Prohibited internally during pregnancy" -12) before taking Yunnan Paiyao. 9
The manufacturer of Yunnan Paiyao recommends taking one single red pill that comes with each bottle first with wine for serious wounds or bleeding. "This is used to prevent shock from blood loss, although it does not stop bleeding. Use only one pill per day." If the condition does not improve after three or four days taking the herb seek medical attention. The United States Food and Drug Administration have not evaluated the efficacy of this herbal product. 12
