Update in the Zahra Baker Case. The prosthetic leg found does belong to the missing North Carolina girl, Zahra Baker. Ten year old, Zahra has been missing since October 9, when her father reported her missing.

Last week found a prosthetic leg in the bushes near the former residence of Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker. Zahra is disable due to bone cancer and she wears a prosthetic leg above the knee on her left leg and two hearing aids.

Police have also found two mattresses in a landfill and they are currently removing items from the Baker family home including the drywall from the walls in Zahra's bedroom for evidence. Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker is currently in jail and she was indicted today on two counts of obstruction of justice for lying to the police about her missing stepdaughter and for created a false ransom note.

Zahra's father, Adam Baker, was also arrested on bad check charges that are unrelated to the case. He is currently out of jail on bail.

The police have now confirmed that they have received verification from the Australian authorities that they prosthetic leg does belong to Zahra. Zahra and her father, Adam Baker, were originally from Australia. They moved to North Carolina more than a year ago after Adam Baker met Elisa online. Adam Baker, 33 and Elisa, 46 then married. They have moved several times and just recently moved to the location where Zahra went missing.

Friends and neighbors say that Elisa Baker was abusive towards Zahra and that they had reported her to social services.

The police do not know exactly what day Zahra went missing because they do not believe the stories from the father and stepmother. When Adam Baker, Zahra's dad reported her missing he told the 911 operator that Zahra was in a "brooding" stage and did not come out of her room much. He also said that because of a backyard fire and a ransom note (for his bosses daughter) the night before, he did not check on his daughter and did not notice that she was missing.

The police also believe that the mattresses that they found in the landfill had been dumped there at least a week before Adam reported Zahra missing.

At least the evidence is mounting since the prosthetic leg does belong to the missing girl and the stepmother was indicted on two counts related to the case. The father, Adam Baker, is still out on bail.
