I will start by commenting on the size. I used to purchase their regular size box to feed my family of four. Now that my two children are older, they eat more and the upgrade to the family size is just the right amount for all of us. The box states that it serves 8 but in today's America, that would be more like 8 small children. The weight of this product is 12 oz.

This can be prepared alone but it is recommended to add 1 ½ pounds of smoked sausage, pre-cooked chicken, ham or shrimp cut into bite size pieces. I use sausage. You combine 3 ¾ cups water, package contents and meat. This calls for 2 tbsp optional vegetable oil but I leave this out because the sausage already has enough grease in it. Bring to a boil then reduce heat, stir and cover simmering on low heat for 25 minutes.
Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix is extremely easy to make. You can come home from work, throw it together and change into your pajamas while it simmers for 25 minutes.
Everyone in my household enjoys this product but we won't eat it frequently as it is very high in sodium. Fortunately, we don't have to watch our sodium intake however the taste is relatively salty. You might retain some water after eating this!
I recommend Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix because it is tasty and extremely easy to prepare. When you are short on time, a product like this is high on everyone's list because it is ready in a short amount of time and tastes like you worked hard on it all day long!
