Zaxby's Birthday Cake Milkshake Review

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have an addiction to ice cream. It doesn't matter if it's the middle of summer or winter, I still eat ice cream several times a week. One of my boyfriend's employees had mentioned how good Zaxby's Birthday Cake Milkshake was so we decided to give a try (my boyfriend likes ice cream just as much as I do). In fact, we made a special trip to Zaxby's because weren't not fond of their food. Would their milkshake really be as good as we had heard?

First of all, I was surprised that Zaxby's milkshakes only come in one size and even more surprised that they cost $2.89. That seemed a bit high for a fast food milkshake. Still, we had heard they were fabulous and got two. It took a while for them to make the shakes, but I was impressed to see them using an actual milkshake mixer rather than the shakes coming out of a machine. To me, it looked like they started with a soft serve ice cream, put milk on top and mixed the shakes. They then add sprinkles and mixed for a bit longer before topping the shakes with what looked like chocolate frosting.

We quickly began to sip away at shakes as soon as we got them. To me, they tastes like birthday cake ice cream, only thinner. In other words, I didn't think they were anything special. However, the stuff they put on top was awesome. I'm not sure if it was chocolate frosting or chocolate frosting flavored whipped cream. Either way, it was awesome.

When I got home I was shocked to see the nutritional value of this shake. A Zaxby's Birthday Cake Milkshake contains 860 calories, 37.5 grams of fat, 23 grams of saturated fat, 135mg of cholesterol, 256mg of sodium, 113 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 98 grams of sugar and 10 grams of protein. For you Weight Watchers members out there, that's a PointsPlus value of 23.

I would have to give this shake 3 out of 5 stars. It was nothing spectacular and certainly not worth all the fat and calories in contained. I can't see myself getting this shake again. Though I could see myself eating just a cup of the whipped frosting stuff they put on top.
