Zazios in Birmingham obtains liquor license

When Zazios opens in Birmingham in late July, patrons will be able to enjoy alcohol with their meals now that the City Commission has approved a Special Land Use Permit granting the eatery a liquor license. The license was granted under an economic development ordinance that allows a business to transfer a liquor license into Birmingham by meeting certain criteria.

The ordinance requires construction of a mixed-use, multi-story project with an investment of at least $10 million or a 500 percent increase in the value of the property. Zazios met both criteria, as $34 million was invested into the building, which increased its value by 2,046 percent.

The Birmingham location will be the second Zazios in Michigan, the other being located in Kalamazoo. The Italian restaurant will have wine list with more than 134 selections, and once open, will have seating for 191 people.
