Zecharia Sitchin 11 July 1920 to 9 October 2010
The Best Selling Author of Books on Ancient Astronaut Theory Has Passed Away
Many people will not have heard of Zecharia Sitchin, but to anyone who has an interest in the origins of mankind and the theory of ancient astronauts being the "Gods Of Old" and creating mankind in their image, he was well known.
Zecharia Sitchin devoted his life to translating ancient Sumerian texts, some of which had been translated naively many years before, and many which had never previously been translated.
The texts tell the story of the Anunnaki coming to earth about 450,000 years ago from the planet Nibiru, which is/was a distant planet in our solar system that had a very elliptical orbit.
They came to Earth to mine gold, which was needed to protect their atmosphere, created mankind by crossing their own genes with that of Homo Erectus to serve as workers, and later interbred with mankind.
This all sounds too far fetched I know, and straight out of a science-fiction novel, but can you open your mind for a minute and consider that this could all likely be real?
The word "Adama" (Adam) in Babylonian means "worker", and this is just one small piece of evidence to show that what we know as ancient myths are very likely based on factual events that actually took place.
The Anunnaki were technologically advanced, and taught mankind how to be civilized, and many of the original Sumerian beliefs were passed down to man. Stories from these times even appear in the Old Testament, for example in the first chapters of Genesis where there are references to there being "Giants on the earth in those days", and "God said let US make man in OUR image".
More information on the works of Zecharia Sitchin can be found HERE, but if you want to get a feel for the fascinating history that Zecharia Sitchin has pieced together, I really recommend reading the following two articles:

History Timeline According To Zecharia Sitchin
As crazy as these theories seem to be, just look at all the mysterious objects and places in the world that we are unable to explain.
Take the giant drawings that are only able to be seen from the air, like the Nazca lines in South America. Take the 15th century maps that accurately show the Arctic land mass underneath the ice. Take the drawings of batteries on temples in Iraq and Egypt, or the descriptions of flying machines in the Old Testament. Take the fact that even now we do not know who created the Sphynx and what it's purpose was, and that the Great Pyramid is supposed to be the oldest of all the pyramids.
Just go back a couple of hundred years, before electricity, before the age of flight etc.
Stories from Ancient Greece, like Homer's Iliad, or the siege of Troy, all these were assumed to be just made up stories. Recent research has shown that these in fact did take place, with Schliemann's discovery of Troy in the 1870's, and the more recent identification of places that Homer visited on his great voyage.
The stories are there from many thousands of years ago, dating from before the dawn of time as historians tell us. They include several ice ages, the great flood and the story of Noah, and much more.
It is inconceivable that primitive peoples could create such fanciful myths, including descriptions of travel to the Earth from their home, and yet if you study these great works, it is fascinating how all the pieces seem to logically fall into place.
It can't be denied that Zecharia Sitchin was a great scholar, and his passing leaves a great void in the research into mankind's origins.
We will have to wait to see if any future discoveries further prove that the theories of Zecharia Sitchin are correct, but to the believer, the evidence is there.

Was unfamiliar with him, but what a shame.
Fascinating. I've heard similar theories from other sources. I'd never heard of Sitchin. Thanks.
I find this fascinating and I'm going to read the Iliad again.
Good report, Tony. Thanks!
Fascinating ideas, thanks for reporting this.
I have read about some of his theories before! Fascinating!
The ancient astronaut theories are pretty good food for thought, I love reading that stuff, but I am very weary of the ideas. I do love however, how these concepts have spawned tons of movies and shows such as Stargate. Very interesting!
Never heard of him. Thanks
How interesting! I am open to such a possibility. I will explore further.
